Glossop North End ‘B’ 0, Vipers ‘B’ 7
Glossop North End ‘A’ 0, Vipers ‘A’ 7

After two 7-0 defeats there’s not much you can say. Despite the fact that Glossop were playing a very good side, the team is certainly capable of better.

The opening game saw Glossop contribute to their own downfall with a number of individual errors – in fact it seemed that every mistake was punished with a goal. The nearest Glossop came to troubling the scorers was via a Jake Pearson shot which just missed the target and when Lewis Snape who was denied by a last ditch save. On the positive side joint James Chattington gave another consistent defensive performance and Lewis Snape showed his ability the trouble the opposition with the ball at his feet. Both these players were jointly awarded Glossop’s man of the match award.

The second game didn’t seem as one sided especially as the score was only 2-0 at half time. However, as in the first game a number of individual errors cost Glossop dearly. Although a number of runs by Josh Pearson took Glossop deep into the opposition territory they never really troubled the Vipers keeper. For his non stop effort Dylan Johnson was named as Glossop’s man of the match.

Glossop North End ‘B’ 1, Dukinfield Youth ‘B’ 3
Glossop North End ‘A’ 0, Dukinfield Youth ‘A’ 2

Although Glossop lost both games, this was probably their best team performance for along time, against arguably the best team in the league.

The opening game saw Glossop concede after five minutes. Although it was a good strike that beat keeper Thomas Hague, it didn’t help that the Glossop defence didn’t make their tackles. Despite this setback Glossop powered forward and Jake Pearson had a shot well saved before Will Parkes ghosted in between two defenders and shot low into the goal.

After all their good work Glossop again fell behind early in the second half when a speculative shot somehow found its way into the goal. For the second time in the game Glossop went in search of the equaliser with Jake Pearson going close on a couple of occasions. However, with time running out Glossop were hit on the break and a defensive miss-tackle allowed Dukinfield to score their third of the game. Will Parkes and Jake Pearson were named as Glossop’s joint man of the matches.

The second game saw an early attack from Glossop. A great run by Joshua Pearson was brought to an end when he was dumped on the floor. However, the resulting free kick was fired just wide. At the other end man of the match Joe Titterington was in great form pulling off a couple of point blank saves – if there’s a better keeper in the league I’ve yet to see him.

Joshua Person was causing all sorts of problems with his mazy runs and he went close to opening the scoring when his shot hit the post. Almost immediately Dukinfield took the lead when they reacted quicker to a loose ball than the Glossop defence, giving them a slender half time lead.

The second half saw Glossop continue to work extremely hard, but sometimes you just have to applaud the opposition – a great run and shot flew into the top corner giving keeper Titterington no chance and Dukinfield a 2-0 victory.

Glossop North End ‘B’ 1 Vipers ‘B’ 3
Glossop North End ‘A’ 1, Vipers ‘A’ 6

This game saw the Under 7’s pitched against the team to beat in the division, the scores don’t really reflect the effort put in but Glossop still found themselves on the losing end.

B Team got off to a bad start losing a couple of goals in quick succession, a break by a very quick right wing player for vipers saw the boys 2-0 down before they had really even got going. However what followed was a spirited response and some effort show by the Glossop players. Some hard work by Ethan Stone and Jake Pearson saw the goal which had been threatened by Glossop arrive. Vipers did seal the win close to the end but the game was much closer than the score suggests. Jake Pearson & Thomas Hague were awarded joint man of the match for their work rate and bravery.

A Team. The Glossop players again went down early in this game which presented them with a constant uphill battle. The Vipers team were blessed with having a number of players who were comfortable on the ball and allowed to play. Glossop tried in vain to stem the flow but the goals kept coming for Vipers. Glossop were rewarded with a consolation goal with a very well taken free kick from Joshua Pearson. Joint man of the match awards went to Josh Pearson & Jack Cowan for their effort throughout the game.

Glossop North End B 0, Curzon Ashton B 4
Glossop North End A 1, Curzon Ashton A 2
Curzon Ashton win 6-1 on aggregate

Although the B team lost 4-0, the game wasn’t as one-sided as the score indicates. It just seemed that Curzon converted every chance that came the way and by half time they were three goals to the good. The first came after Glossop missed a couple of tackles, the next went in via the woodwork and the third was as a result of a break out of defence. In between James Chattington and Will Parkes (named joint man of the match for Glossop) produced some timely clearances at the heart of the defence. The second half at least saw Glossop create a couple of decent chances, with Lewis Snape having a shot well saved and Ethan Lumb going close on a couple of occasions. In between Glossop conceded their fourth of the day when they failed to clear their lines.

The A team were a little unfortunate to lose, although a defensive mix up in the first few minutes which saw them concede a goal didn’t help matters. However, it wasn’t long before they were on level terms. A Noah Rowlinson corner fell to Ethan Stone and his low shot from the edge of the area found its target. The second half saw Glossop make the early running with Joshua Pearson’s free kick narrowly deflected past the post. At the other end Curzon went in front when a great strike left keeper Joe Titterington rooted to the spot.
With chances being created at both ends keeper Titterington produced a couple of excellent saves and Joshua Pearson again went close with another free kick. Ethan Stone & Noah Rowlinson were named as Glossop’s man of the match.

Glossop North End ‘B’ 0 Delamere ‘B’ 3
Glossop North End ‘A’ 0, Delamere ‘A’ 1

This game saw the Under 7’s pitched against Delamere for the first time since September 10. The scores sadly were exactly the same in both games but the effort shown by the Glossop was a huge improvement from recent weeks.

B Team The curse of the early goal was back to haunt Glossop and they found themselves behind early on. They must keep their defence tighter at the back! Glossop dragged themselves up and did start to threaten the Delamere goal, Lewis Snape was unlucky not to get a better bounce of the ball on a couple of occasions. The Second half was a real tight affair however Delamere pounced on a sloppy clearance and scored there 3rd of the game. Lewis Snape was awarded Man of the match for both the managers and parents award.

A Team. This was a great game to watch both teams played some great football and both sets of players worked very hard during the game. This ebbed and flowed back and forth throughout with both teams going close on a number of occasions. This really could of gone either way and just went you thought Glossop were ready to pounce a quick break saw Delamere gate a very late goal with a smart finish from their attacker. Glossop were very unlucky not to level straight from the Kick off with a skillfull mazy run by Josh Pearson, sadly though his shot cannoned back off the post. A round of applause for both sets of players followed and Josh Pearson was named man of the match again by both manager and parents.

Glossop North End B 1 Manchester Corinthians B 3
Glossop North End A 0 Manchester Corinthians A 4
Despite having not played for a number of weeks Glossop will be disappointed with their display against Manchester Corinthians.

The B team fell behind in the first minute when a well hit shot left keeper Thomas Hague rooted to the spot. However, Glossop were soon on the attack and Will Parkes went close to providing an equaliser. Glossop continued to push forward, but just before half-time they conceded twice in quick succession. A well worked goal made in 2-0 and a defensive mistake presented Corinthians with their third.
The second half belonged to Glossop and they made a real fight of things. Their effort was rewarded when Glossop’s man of the match Jake Pearson cut in from the left and fired a shot low into the corner of the net. Despite continuing to push forward Glossop couldn’t further reduce the deficit and in the end paid for a poor first half.

The A teams game was a reverse of the first game in that they were level at half time, but a disappointing second half saw them slump to a 4-0 defeat.

In what was a fairly even first half, Glossop came closest to opening the scoring when Joshua Pearson narrowly failed to convert a couple of free kicks. At the other end keeper Thomas Hague had to be quickly of his line to repel a couple of dangerous attacks. The second half was a catalogue of errors and it seemed that Glossop were made to pay for every mistake, although to be fair they were beaten by the better team on the day. Josh Pearson and Thomas Hague were named as joint man of the matches for Glossop.

Glossop NE ‘A’ 0, Marple Athletic 2
Glossop NE ‘B’ 0, Marple Athletic 2
Marple win 4-0 on aggregate

Glossop crashed out of the Primary Cup competition at the quarterfinal stage to a very good Marple Athletic side.

The first game saw Marple doing all the early attacking, and if it wasn’t for excellent goalkeeping from Joseph Titterington and first class defending by James Chattington Glossop would have found themselves in arrears. However as the half progressed Glossop came into the game, with Lewis Snape producing a mazy run from his half and only being halted by last ditch defending. The second half was a carbon copy of the first with Marple exerting early pressure, but this time they took the lead – a shot rebounded of the post with the follow up giving keeper Titterington no chance. Despite the set back Glossop almost equalised when Logan Booth just failed to make contact with a left wing cross.

With Glossop pushing for an equaliser holes were left in the defence and with the last attack of the game Marple scored their second of the game.

Lewis Snape and James Chattington were named Glossop’s joint man of the matches.

The second game saw Glossop play some nice football, but they never really threatened in front of goal. In fact the nearest they came to scoring was a Joshua Pearson free kick which was blocked by the wall.

With Thomas Kuczaj and Joseph Titterington repelling the Marple attack, it was no surprise that it took an excellent move to give Marple the opening goal. The second arrived via a corner, although Glossop will feel that they should have cleared the ball before it was fired into the goal. Joseph Titterington and Thomas Kuczaj were named as Glossop’s joint man of the matches.

The second game was a little more even than the score suggested, as keeper Joseph Titterington produced a couple of first class saves and James Chattington cleared a late chance of the line.
Although Lewis Snape took the plaudits with a hat trick, he had to thank Ethan Lumb for two assists and Dylan Johnson for the other. In between Noah Rowlinson just failed to find the target with a well-hit free kick and Dylan Johnson struck the woodwork from close range. For his well-taken hat trick Lewis Snape and goalkeeper Joseph Titterington were named joint man of the matches for Glossop.

Glossop NE ‘A’ 4, Reddish Villa 2
Glossop NE ‘B’ 2, Reddish Villa 2

Glossop emerged victorious from this competitive encounter with a spirited Reddish Villa side.

B team playing first drew first blood with a goal from Ethan Stone but were quickly pegged back by some swift play from Reddish and a mix up in the Glossop defence. Logan Booth playing as the last defender for the first time made amends for the mistake though with faultless display from then on. Lewis Snape regained the lead for Glossop with some fine footwork and a cool finish only for Glossop to be pegged back once more by a late goal from Reddish. A good competitive encounter enjoyed by both sets of players, managers and parents finished a draw. Logan Booth was unanimous man of the match with a fine display in defence.

A Team played second with Glossop quickly getting into there stride and Josh Pearson giving the team a early goal from a quick break and run down the right to score. This was the start of things to come with a second goal from a stunning long-range effort finding the top corner of the net again from Josh Pearson. Reddish hit back before the break to make it 2-1 at half time. In the second half Glossop regained the initiative and Josh Pearson was to make it 3-1 and complete his hat-trick with a quick run from Glossop’s own half to finish low into the bottom left corner. Glossop made it 4-1 soon after with a good exchange of passes between Jake Pearson and Ethan Stone for Ethan to finish coolly in the bottom right corner. Reddish did hit back to make it 4-2 and almost stole another late on only for some good defending from the cool head of Thomas kuczaj. Man of the match awards were shared between Josh Pearson and Thomas kuczaj.

Glossop NE ‘A’ 1, Manchester Corinthians 3
Glossop NE ‘B’ 2, Manchester Corinthians 2
Glossop were overhauled today by a good hard working Manchester Corinthians team.

B team played first and competed for every loose ball, the performance was consistent with recent results for the team as they have been improving over the last few weeks. Glossop were rewarded for their efforts with a goal mid way through the first half with some great flowing pass and move football. Ethan Stone slotted the ball home and was clearly happy with his finish! Glossop scored a second goal soon afterwards again through Ethan Stone shooting low into the corner from another Glossop attack.
Corinthians did not lie down though and fought back in the second half to draw level. Glossop continued to battle hard and were unlucky not to get a third late on but it wasn’t to be. Ethan Stone was a unanimous man of the match for his display throughout the game.

The A team fought hard but were really no match for a good Corinthians A team. Joe Titterington was kept busy all game in goal and did very well to keep the goal tally to only 3 for the Manchester team. A lesson in finishing was being given by the Corinthian striker who gave Joe Titterington no chance with all 3 goals. Glossop did pull a goal back in the second half from a very well taken goal by the hard working Josh Pearson. The ball broke out on the left hand side of midfield and Josh left the Corinthian defenders in his wake and finished coolly following a powerful run. Man of the match awards for this game were shared between Joe Titterington for his brave goalkeeping and Josh Pearson for his non stop effort and well taken goal.

Glossop NE ‘B’ 2, Heyside Juniors 0
Glossop win 5-0 on aggregate

Despite a mixed start to the season Glossop North end moved into the quarterfinals of this seasons cup competition.

Although they dominated the first half, Glossop just couldn’t find a way past a resolute Heyside defence. However, the second period was a different story with Glossop providing three unanswered goals. The breakthrough arrived when Noah Rowlinson cut in from the left wing and produced a shot into the bottom corner of the net. The other two goals were both clinical finishes from man of the match Josh Pearson following two excellent clearances from keeper Joseph Titterington.

The second game also saw Glossop keeping a clean sheet, with goals in each half from Lewis Snape, although Ethan Lumb giving his best performance of the season went close on a number of occasions.
For his no nonsense defending Luke Chattington and winger Ethan Lumb were named joint man of the matches for Glossop.
