Introduction
At the start of the 2009/10 season it became apparent that we had more boys wanting to play competitive football than the established teams could cater for.
With the continued success of the soccer school a steady stream of talent was being left on the sidelines each week as the regular teams were full. With this in mind we made the decision to start up more teams within the age groups that would cater for the kids not able to play in the established teams but who wanted regular football and have the thrill of wearing the Glossop North End shirt.
These development teams provide a useful next step for players who have learnt the basic skills at the soccer school and now want to be part of a team. The aim is to develop the kids into good footballers, who are more confident with the right attitude.
The first season was spent playing friendly games with coaching sessions set up by other clubs and Glossop. In 2010 the Under 9's and Under 10's have both joined leagues and are thoroughly enjoying themselves. Please use the links opposite to see match reports.
They all get a game regardless of ability and although it is nice to win games it is not a win at all cost mentality we are promoting. Enjoying the game is far more important but if they do progress then further opportunities will be available for them in the club.
There are Under 9's and 10's teams in 2010, and the advent of a new Under 8's team is imminent, so if you know any children currently in year 3 at school who want to play for Glossop then please contact me on 07717 697273.
